Applications are invited for the above post in the Joint Section for Financial Accounting and Specialized Functions. The role will manage the Financial Accounting Integrity team, providing professional and technical accounting service to both constables.

The successful candidate will be an experienced financial accountant, with experience in complex accounting reconciliation, VAT accounting, IFRS implementation (especially IFRS 16) and systems accounting.

It is essential that applicants meet the following criteria:

  • Partially qualified CCAB accounting qualification (at applied skills level (ACCA) or at management level (CIMA)) or comparable equivalent

  • Proven experience in participating in the preparation of account statements

  • Demonstrate effective verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with internal and external clients

  • Proven ability to manage and motivate a team

  • Demonstrate technical knowledge of accounting, including IFRS

  • Proven ability to manage computerized accounting systems including spreadsheets and databases.

  • Proven ability to manage change, meet deadlines and achieve goals under pressure

It is desirable that applicants meet the following criteria:

  • CCAB Accounting Diploma

  • Knowledge of public sector accounting procedures and the code of good accounting practices of local authorities

Working hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday with flexibility on start and end times in accordance with the organization’s flexible working policy. This position is offered on a temporary basis.

It will be considered whether the position can be provided on a part-time or part-time basis, in accordance with the organizational requirements of this role.
