United States: CFTC Commissioner Dan Berkovitz to join SEC as General Counsel

The second announcement that the commissioner of the CFTC, Dan M. Berkovitz, will be the new legal adviser to the SEC.
M. Berkovitz, who will leave from his post as commissioner at the CFTC on October 15, 2021, he previously served as general counsel at the CFTC under the leadership of Gary Gensler, then chairman of the SEC.
Current SEC General Counsel John Coates will step down on November 1, 2021 and return to an academic post at Harvard University. Upon Mr. Coates’ departure, SEC attorney Michael Conley will serve as interim general counsel until Mr. Berkovitz joins the agency.
